Parisian and Burgundian by origin, Béarnais at heart... After 15 years of living together in Rhône-Alpes, we settled in Oloron Sainte-Marie , for its gentle way of life, the warmth of its inhabitants, its exceptional location between the Atlantic and the Pyrenees , the richness of its terroir and its constantly renewed landscapes, thanks to a mountain horizon bathed in a light that only exists in the Southwest .
We were looking for a place where we could live in harmony with nature, close to all the amenities of the city. In the Saint-Pée district we found all that, and more: a traditional 18th-century Béarnaise house, in which the poet Tristan Derême grew up, situated on a two-hectare estate.
We've been settled here since August 2018, with our animals that will brighten your children's stay – miniature donkeys and pygmy goats, chickens and ducks. The name of the site came to us naturally: " The Blue Snail"", in reference to the work of Tristan Derème and as an invitation to take the time to live.
Several months of work were required to restore the outbuildings and equip them with all the modern comforts that we ourselves appreciate on vacation, while preserving the soul of the place.
We were able to begin sharing this historic estate with you in June 2019, with the opening of our first two cottages. We can now accommodate up to 14 people (15 if a child can sleep in a cot).
